In accordance with the City of Sarasota ordinance regarding face masks to help curb the spread of Covid 19, that takes effect July 1, 2020, we have instituted the following guidelines.
Face coverings will be required for all SJG adult visitors while indoors, except those who qualify for exemptions as stated in the ordinance. Children under 18 are specifically excluded and will not be required to wear face coverings. Guests are encouraged to bring their own covering, but we will provide one to those who do not have one at no charge.
As an 90% outdoor facility, with more than 10 acres of space to allow for social distancing, we are pleased to welcome guests this coming 4th of July weekend. However, in areas that are potentially more crowded (i.e. show areas), face coverings are strongly recommended even while outdoors.
Effective immediately, all guests must purchase their admission tickets online via our website - sarasotajunglegardens.com so we can monitor and restrict park capacity at any one time.
We ask that our guests stagger arrival and departure times so bottlenecking does not occur.
All our food options will be grab and go style (sandwiches and salads, pizza, and other self-contained comfort/snack food). Dining will be outside only.
All our employees will always wear face coverings, whether indoor or outdoor, when closely interacting with guests.
If anyone is sick, or believe they have been exposed to Covid 19, please do not visit SJG until you have been cleared by a medical professional. As always it remains a personal decision whether to visit any public area where exposure risks to any illness may exist.
As a member of our community we are confident we will get through this and are pleased to offer fun, interactive and outdoor activities to celebrate our country's independence. We know we all play a part and encourage personal responsibility for the public health benefit. We also sincerely appreciate the support.
UPDATE - 5/21/20
We are pleased to continue operating under the Governor's now Full Phase 1 Guidelines. We are open Thursday - Sunday from 10:00 am - 3:30 pm. We will also be open for Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th.
What you can expect when visiting the Jungle Gardens are clean facilities, frequently sanitized commonly touched areas and restrooms, many hand sanitizer stations throughout the park, announcements and signage reminding folks about social distancing, capacity limited to 50% in the park, in our gift shop and cafe at any one time. We prefer admission purchases are made through our website https://bit.ly/34IWssr to provide limited contact transactions. We also have reduced seating availability at our shows. Our playground and the petting zoo is currently closed and we are also encouraging face masks but not requiring them. Our employees are checked twice daily for elevated temperatures or other signs of sickness. Sick employees will not be allowed to work until cleared by a medical professional.
We are also pleased to welcome our zoo campers starting June 1. They will be at the Gardens for 3 (of the 5 days) days a week while it's closed to the public. We will be reasonably enforcing social distance between campers and we have significantly decreased our capacity. We are only allowing 15 children per week and will have a 1 - 5 counselor to camper ratio with more outdoor activities.
We are doing our very best to mitigate any spread of illness. However, it is a personal or parental decision whether or not a guest, camper, or employee chooses to visit or work. It is important to note that CDC advises older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions that they might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html. Visitors, employees and campers should evaluate their risk in determining whether to visit Jungle Gardens. Asymptomatic people can spread COVID-19 if they are infected. Just by entering the general public there is an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19. As such, we cannot guarantee that you will not be exposed during your visit. Please see the CDC's website for further information. All operational changes are subject to change without notice.
We continue to ask for your support by volunteering, visiting, and donating. The next few months will be critical for the continued success of the Jungle Gardens.
